Duck Hunting

A Trip You Wont Forget

Crazy Feather Outfitters (CFO) and Gerry Glasco began duck hunting in Northern Mexico in the early 1990´s in and along the Laguna Madre Bay located along the northeastern gulf coast of Mexico. CFO quickly became known among serious water fowlers as the place to go as hunters returned home each winter with accounts of huge concentrations of redheads and pintails native to the coastal are of the Laguna Madre. Vast concentrations of waterfowl combined with the opportunity to hunt with well trained and knowledgeable guides quickly combined to put Crazy Feather Outfitters at the top of the list for duck hunting in Mexico.
CFO´s success in Northern Mexico led to their development of the newest and hottest waterfowl area in southern Mexico, the rice fields and flooded swamps in the area of the Yucatan peninsula and to the south as far as the states of Tobasco and Campeche.
CFO and owner Gerry Glasco have consistently produced great hunts over the last 15 years despite the challenges created by a very changing habitat each winter due to great differences in rainfall from year to year. Some seasons are very wet with large amount of flooding and others are very dry due to the tropical storms which may or may not affect the area each year.

Mexico Hunts

NORTHERN MEXICOCFO has provided the top duck hunting for over a decade in the flooded potholes along the gulf coast area of Tamauliupas. The area is known for producing tremendous hunts for pintail and redheads! However, it is not uncommon for as many as 15 species of waterfowl to be harvested on any given hunt! Species commonly shot are pintail, redhead, bluebill, widgeon, scalp, canvasback, spoonbills, ring neck, model duck, ruddy ducks, buffel heads, merganser, Fulvous and Black belly whistling ducks, teal (blue wing, greening, and cinnamon).Hunters will hunt in pits, blinds and occasionally boats as they hunt the flooded fields each winter along the famous Laguna Madre Bay just south of the US border and along the Gulf of Mexico coast.

SOUTHERN MEXICO
In the 1990´s, Gerry discovered an area in Southern Mexico that had never been hunted, despite an unbelievable concentration of waterfowl in the rice field’s and swamps native to that area. Crazy Feather obtained its first videos of the waterfowl concentrations in 1994.

Gerry and CFO quietly and discretely, scouted the area for many winters before starting to take hunters into the area in 2005. The huge concentrations of Blue Wing Teal, Fulvous Whistling Duck, and Black Belly Whistling Duck, and the wet terrain in the area where they are located provided a great challenge to CFO as they developed the hunting strategy that would allow their hunters to successfully hunt the areas throughout the Yucatan Peninsula.

Limits are very liberal in the area due to the area providing a great population of duck and only a few hunters each winter. Drives to and from blinds will normally be around 45 minutes, although CFO is willing to go to greater distances for those hunters in pursuit of the highest volume shoots.

Hunters will hunt from dry blinds, wet blinds, and even layout blinds as they hunt the area with CFO. Ducks are hunted both in the morning and in the afternoon from this location. An occasional afternoon dove shoot can be found for whitewing and mourning dove.
